Sound familiar?

You've tried the quick fixes. The pain keeps coming back.

These are the stories we hear every week at our Merivale clinic.

Lower back

The driver's-seat shuffle

You keep sliding forward and back, trying to find the one position where your lower back stops aching.

Neck

The growing pillow collection

New pillow after new pillow, yet you still wake up with neck pain that sometimes runs down your arm.

Lower back

Stiff at the desk, worse on the drive home

By the time you get home, your lower back is so tight that all you want to do is lie down.

Neck

Phone and laptop neck

Hours on screens leave your neck stiff and sore. The stretches from online videos help for an hour, then it's back.

Neck & back

"Can you rub my neck?" every night

A massage at home eases it for the evening. Tomorrow, the same tightness is waiting for you.

Shoulder

That sharp pain that never fully goes

Reaching, lifting or training still hurts. It settles for a while, then flares up again.

Knee

"I left my phone in the kitchen…"

On your feet all day, you finally sit down, and your knees are too sore to get back up.

Jaw / TMJ

Clenching at the screen

You notice you've been clenching your jaw for hours. By evening, even chewing feels uncomfortable.

Muscle tension

Nine to five, then straight to bed

Knots in your upper and lower back build up all day from posture, and they never really let go.

Here's the truth: new chairs, pillows, stretches and quick massages only ease the symptom. The pain keeps coming back because the cause was never assessed. That's the first thing we do.

How we fix it

The right treatment for your kind of pain.

After your assessment, your physiotherapist combines the therapies that suit your problem, all under one roof at Merivale.

Questions

Good to know before you book.

What happens after I fill in the form?
Our Merivale team calls you from (613) 225-8956, answers any questions, checks your benefits if you'd like, and books a time that works for you. No obligation.
Do I need a doctor's referral?
No. You can book directly. Some insurance plans ask for a referral for reimbursement, and we'll tell you if yours does.
Will my insurance cover it?
Most extended health plans cover physiotherapy, massage therapy and chiropractic. We bill most insurers directly and also support WSIB and motor vehicle accident claims.
Which treatment will I get?
That depends on what your assessment finds. Your physiotherapist may combine hands-on care with spinal decompression, shockwave, ultrasound, massage or exercise, whatever suits your problem best.
Do these treatments hurt?
They're designed to be comfortable. Settings for decompression, shockwave and electrotherapy are always adjusted by your therapist, and you can ask to change them at any time.
